Hi,
I am thinking to analyse composition of plant cuticular waxes using GC. I do not know if I have to do preparative TLC first ( to separate on lipid classes) or can I go directely with lipid mixture for GC? Does anyone have suggestions?
thank you,
yas

It's possible, but I think you will get a nicer chromatogram and better results if you separate the classes first, either by preparative TLC or SPE, or maybe even flash chromatography.
