Determination of soluble sulphate by gravimetric analysis

In determination of soluble sulphate by gravimetric analysis, it is beneficial to precipitate the sulphate with an aged BaCl2 solution.
Anyone explain why an AGED BaCl2 should be used instead of a normal one?

Any other steps, like "aged, then filtered" BaCl2 in the procedure?
