Equilibrium concentration
« on: March 12, 2008, 02:00:25 AM »
Hi i have this urgent question which i need help in Given,

D = [X]o / [X]w

Where [X]o is the equilibrium concentration of compound X in organic phase;
[X]w is the equilibrium concentration of compound X in aqueous phase.

It was said that there is 80ml of aqueous solution of A and its concentration is 0.1g/ml and when A is extracted from water by dichloromethane, D= 10. If the aqueous solution is extracted by 80ml of dichloromethane ONCE, what is the concentration of A in the aqueous solution after extraction. How do i do this question ppls?

Try to set up an ICE table.
