Molality of KCl in ethanol solution
« on: March 24, 2008, 09:43:24 PM »
What is the molality of KCl in ethanol solution if the boiling point elevation is 5.4 degrees C?
My solution: 1.19 x molality of KCl = 5.4
Molality ofKCl = 4.54m

Is this correct? Or does KCl dissociate in ethanol solution?
Please help. Thank you.

Hmmm...now that's a tough one.  Can KCl dissolve if it doesn't dissociate in ethanol?
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.

No, it cannot dissolve. Right? Thank you
