What is the reaction between Cl2 and hydroxylamine sulfate? ((NH2OH)2.H2SO4)

If you have to take a stab in the dark, what stable compounds can you form from those elements.

Our first stab in the dark was the following, but it doesn't balance:

4(NH2OH)2 • H2SO4 + 6 Cl2  --> 2(NH4) • H2SO4 + 12 HCl + 2H2SO4 + 3N2

To simplify you may ignore sulfuric acid, it is only spectator.

So ... the hydroxylamine sulfate becomes ammonium dihydrogensulfate and sulfuric acid.  Ummm...that first product, I've never heard of it, one of the simplest definitions of stable is exists.  Also, I wouldn't expect you'd break covalent bonds, and reform new ones, to liberate OH, to make acid.  If you've really been given no help from your instructor on this problem, you may want to try again.  Look here:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydroxylamine#Reactions  it's the wikipedia for hydroxylamine, and it's reactions with sulfuric, and it links to it's use in the synthesis of caprolactam.  From there you can learn some of the reactions of this compound, and see if you can make a more educated guess.

Okay, if I take out H2SO4, one reaction I come up with is:

2NH2OH + Cl2 --> N2 + 2HCl + 2H2O

Or does the NH2 ion bond with Cl?  This reaction is in an HCl solution, so I don't think NH2Cl would form, which would form NCl3 at low pH, correct?  Am I close?  BTW, I am not a student, I'm an engineer who's last chemistry class was 25 years ago.
