Substitution reaction of alcohol

Would you expect the reactivity of a five-membered ring ether such as tetrahydrofuran to be more similar to an epoxide or to a noncyclic ether?

What factors affect reactivity?

How do epoxides or alicyclic ethers differ to tetrahydrofurans?
