H2O breaking up in electricity.. what happens?

so when H2O goes through an electrical current it breaks into O2 and H2..
2H2O--> 2H2 + O2
the proboblem is that i dont get how to construct the half redox equations.. that deals with electrons (e-) stuff

im going to give it a try, its probably wrong tho
2H2O ---> 2H2+ O2
2O(2-) + 4e- ---> O2
4H(1-) + 4e- ---> 2H2
uhh.. i dunno
