How could you distinguish a solution of fat from an equally concentrated solution of a vegetable oil?

Okay,

I know that the long carbon chains in the R groups of fats and oils give these substances hydrocarbon-like properties.  An example is the solubility of fats and oils in nonpolar sovents.  I'm not sure the distinguishing features though.  Can anyone help me out here?
