electrophilic addition to a cycloalkane
« on: April 27, 2008, 11:43:40 AM »
Is this even possible??

My cycloalkane is 4-amylcyclohexanethiol.

I'm wondering if my prof meant "hexene", or if the amyl group has a double bond that can be attacked?

All examples we did (as usual) involved very simple alkenes. I can follow the mechanism once I know how to go about starting... any ideas?
