Uniquac & NTRL models for Liquid-Vapor Equilibrium
« on: May 01, 2008, 12:47:14 PM »
I´m using VLEcalc software to calculate liquid-vapor equilibrium for some university homework. The software uses UNIQUAC model and NTRL (non-random two liquid) model and I´m looking for some description of  those models. I found some things about at wikipedia but I´m looking for some complete explanation and description of how that´s models works (and how works the software to calculate the equilibrium properties). Any help, document or suggestion will be very valuable.

Thanks,

Checho

Hello chechom_92,

Sorry, all models use their own unique algorithms.  Although you can try and write your own simulation.  I know of no company which will share this information.

Sincerely,

Eugene

Thanks Eugene, but how can I choose between different models if I don`t know the assumptions and theories associated to each one of them?

Hello chechom_92,

Excellent question.  That is the same dilemma that I run into.  This is why I design my own. By designing my methods, I know what works and what doesn't.

I had the opportunity (?) to see the code of a simulation program, and quite frankly, it scared me. This is why I write my own.

I wish you the best,

Eugene

Thanks for your suggestion. I agree that that´s the best way to know deeply how was made the model.
I would like to open my last question to other engineers. How do you select the models to simulate phisical properties? all of you develop your own models?
