is this a pentose?

If I have a molecule that is a 5 carbon ring monosaccharide, except the anomeric carbon has a OCH3 attached to it instead of an OH, is this a pentose?

It has 6 carbons, but one is not directly attached to the ring.

This is a derivative of pentose called glycoside
