Monoatomic metal layer
« Reply #15 on: May 19, 2008, 03:12:17 PM »
Hi gyes i have backed  ;)
Recently i listened a presentation given by a phisicist who was trying to explain the auditory some statistical simulations of monoatomic Pb layer onto thin solid Co  surface..I am not specialist in general chemistry or phisics but as a diploma chemist-engineer i was wondering if its possible in reality such a perfect monoatomic layer to be created by the vacuum deposition method as was explained by the lecturer.. First what i can imagine is that even at very high temperatures the neutral Pb gas should be composed at least by 2 or even more Pb-atomic clusters (of course if not speculating with the modern alchemistry ORME theory which validate the existence of monoatomic metals). So if a vapour of Pb2 or Pb(n) clusters is deposited  onto a cold Co surface then how could it be 2D monoatomic layer?? Is it possible further prestructuration of Pb nanoclusters to real monoatomic layer as mechanistic explanation of such structure? Hypothesis # 2: If Pb vapour is transformed to Pb-plasma and then this ionised gas is deposited onto the cold Co surface then what will be its future in terms of recombination processes and so on and so on - whats the logic for monoatomic layer apology? And last - it was shown the existence of even monoatomic Pb onto the Co surface which atoms were thermally moving on this surface! Is the monoatomic state possible for the metals and if yes then whats the theoretical life of such particles?
Please tell me if you agree or disagree with my on prima vista logic - is it true or false and whats your explanations of these phenomenas or speculations :)
