bisphenol A is a symmetrial compound. I'm assuming everyone know what the structure of bisphenol A is.

First off, my question is, does something called "alkenylation" exist. That's right, akenylation, not alkylation. An EAS reaction involving an alkyl halide. Instead of the akyl halide, can we use something called an alkenyl halide? Would the same product result? That's my question. Also if you have something like 4-isopropylphenol, and add something like an aluminum chloride catalyst and phenol will I get bisphenol A in theory at least? Something, is probably not right, but I'm trying to suggest a multi-step synthesis for this compound, bisphenol A involving a series of EAS reactions.

This is why I am wondering if alkenylation works? Maybe it will not work, because of the pi electrons?
