Monoatomic ideal gas.
« on: June 18, 2008, 10:39:37 PM »
Hello im having troubles doing this:
v1 = 10L
v2= 20L
T1= 0 degrees Celsius

Adiabatic and reversible compression, also Ideal mono atomic gas.

The question asks to find the final pressure and temperature.
I understand you can use pv=nrt to find the p1, but i don't know what to do after that.

There is a simple formula that you can use, and you should be able to find the relevant formula and its derivations in your text book.  Alternatively, a less clear explanation is available in wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isentropic_process).
