Don't laugh at this crazy sounding proposition...I'm dead serious. It has already been determined that alligators and certain species of frogs and other critters have protein antibodies(medically useful peptides)in their blood for fighting all kinds of diseases...both anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties.I was wondering if my favorite cartoon character might also have some useful blood chemistry that might benifit medical science.
For example,it is already known that tasmanian devils can eat all kinds of rotten dead stuff without getting sick. For humans to do this, they would need to swallow a ton of all kinds of pills and medications to keep from getting ill.So I wonder if anybody out there has ever considered the protein peptide antibidies in their blood and the amino acid sequences it may take to synthesize them in commercial quantities or to genetically engineer their production somehow.
Of course, tasmanian devils are not immune to everything.Wild populations of them are currently dying of some mysterious form of cancer. But it would be interesting to see what medical benifit some of the protein peptide antibodies could be and the chemical make-up of their molecular structures.
