GRE Chemistry Test
« on: August 03, 2008, 02:45:36 PM »
I am about to begin my senior year of undergraduate chemistry.  I think it's time for me to register for a GRE.  What do you guys think, when is the best time to take it?  In the fall or spring?  I am planning on registering for fall just in case I do bad on it I would still have a second chance.
For those of you who have already taken it, what are the expectations from universities?  I know this is a relative question, and they look at other things like GPA, but on average what does one's GRE and GPA scores have to be to get accepted to a decent (not one of the top) university?

Well, most graduate school applications are due in january, so...fall?  Also, every time you take it, unless you decide to not report the score (which you have to do like 6 hours after you take the exam), the score goes on your report.  When you send your scores to the schools they get the whole report.  So make sure you do well your first time, you don't want to look like a habitual test taker looking for that one good score.

what are some typical scores as well as GPAs schools are looking for??  I have a lot of undergraduate research (presentations, publications) under my belt.  My only concerns are my GPA and GRE scores.  I was looking into schools like UK, U of Cinncinnati, U of L, Purdue, etc.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks.
