I'm kinda new to Chemistry so please spare me and my lack of 'intelligence'.
What I need help with: identifying the control, independent variables, dependent variables, the experimental set up. We're required to devise our own experiment design to test the reaction rates of chemicals and this is what I came up with:
3 beakers: 1st beaker: 10g Zinc granules with 40 ml water
2nd beaker: 10g granules with 40 ml hydrochloric acid
3rd beaker: 10g Zinc granules with 40 ml nitric acid
We're going to weigh the zinc granules after the experiment.
My questions are:
- What is the independent variable? The independent variable in the aqueous solution in each beaker. (Water, Hydrochloric, Nitric)
What is the dependent variable? Is it the weight of the zinc granules?
What is your control set up? The beaker with 10g of zinc granules and water.
What is your experimental set up? I have no idea.
*The italics are my answers...but I 'm not sure if they're 100% correct. ;D
