N-(phenylmethyl)-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-3H-azepin-2-amine
« on: September 26, 2008, 09:21:08 AM »
Hi board,

The molecule can be found at http://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/summary/summary.cgi?sid=6753161

Also known as N-Benzyliminocaprolactam, CAS#7048-72-8

But how to make it? Benzylamine and E-Caprolactam and ???

Any ideas?

I'm supposing this is a synthesis on paper problem and not a total synthesis, so what are the parameters of your assignment? Such as, are you allowed free usage of benzene? Are you limited to the number of atoms you can start with in the building up towards this molecule? Etc...

This is a total synthesis. The end product exists, so it is possible to make it. I've tried the normal H2SO4 as carrier of the synthesis, but without success.
