Someone please help with these questions (PLEASE)
« on: November 13, 2008, 05:37:52 PM »
So here the run down, I have this assignment to do.. but I'm like practically failing Chemistry (do not understand alot of it, and I have a 58% >_<) anyway so if you can show me how to do it and give me the answer it would much abliged, or just show me the steps and I can punch it into my calucator thats fine too (just let me know where to calculate)

Here it goes:

1)Several brands of antacid tablets use aluminum Hydroxide to neutralize the excess acid.
                     Al(OH)3 + 3HCL -> ALCL3 + 3H2O
    Molar Mass:  (78.01)    (36.46)  (133.4)   (doesnt have it)

a)What is the quantity of HCL in grams can a tablet with .0750g of Al(OH)3 consume?

b) What is the quantity of water produced?

2)   S8 +   4CL2 -> 4S2Cl2
MM:256.6  70.91     133.0

a) what is the mass of the excess reactant remains when the limiting reactant is consumed?

3) 2NaBH4 + I2 -> B2H6 + 2NaI + H2
MM: 37.84  253.8  27.67  149.9    2.02

a) Suppose you use 1.203g of NaBH4 with excess of Iodine and Obtain .295g of B2H6, what is the percent yeild of B2H6?

4) If 4.00mL of .0250M CuSO4 is diluted to 10.0mL with pure water, what is the molarity of the Copper(II) Sulfate in the diluted solution

5) If you Dilute 25.0mL of 1.50M Hydroxide acid to 500mL, what is the molar concentration of the dilute acid?

6) What volume of .125M HNO3 in mL is required to react completly with 1.30g of Ba(OH)2?
                       2HNO3 + Ba(OH)2 -> Ba(NO3)2 + 2H2O.

So if someone could please answer these for me, it would mean so much to me, and like I said yo can just put the steps out there, just minus the answer and I can calculate it (so set it up like 2+2=?, type of thing..I hope you know what I mean)

Thanks!

I would draw you attention to points 2, 3 and 4.

Just because you think you're failing chem makes your request all the worse. How will you learn if we, in effect, do your work for you.

I would suggest you attempt the problems and repost showing your attempts. This may get you a lot further and maybe you might start understanding chemistry a bit better.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Just look at the periodic table and calculate it.

Show your attempt!

some amounts of reagents are missing!

what does mean hydroxide acid?

                       2HNO3 + Ba(OH)2 -> Ba(NO3)2 + 2H2O.
THESE ABOVE ARE QUITE SIMPLE STOICHIOMETRY PROBLEMS
Just look at the texbook how to solve them or start with Borek primer:
