Making of pure dry crystals
« on: November 04, 2008, 06:29:48 PM »
I have these questions
pure dry crystals of magnesium sulphate is made by reacting Excess magnesium powder w/ dilute sulphuric acid.
1. Why is excess magnesium used and how is the excess magnesium removed from the reaction mix
2. describe how u make pure dry crystals from magensium sulphate solution..
3. Describe one other reaction that makes magnesium sulphate.
etc etc..
I need to study this topic in depth, so if I get variants of it I am all covered.
Can anyone help where (online) can I get the overall picture?
Thanks!

Well, can you suppose the reverse, to find and answer to your question?  If there is an excess of sulfuric, how would you get rid of it, and leave magnesium sulfate.  Do you see why it's easier the other way around?
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.

Thanks for your message, but I am not sure I understood..
I probably have a mental block.
