solubility of organic compounds
« on: December 14, 2008, 12:53:11 PM »
how would i know what compounds are present if i only have data such as their solubility in different test compound....

for example:
i know that compound J, K and L are inert compunds since they are all insoluble in water, 5% NaOH, 5% HCl and concentrated H2SO4. Based only on that, how would i know what compound is J, K, or L. how would i know whether is is an aniline, hexane, toluene, sucrose, benzamide or hexane.
im really having a hard time on this. ???  ???

Think which of the substances you have listed is soluble in water, acid, base... These left will be your J, K & L.

Note that you have listed hexane twice, coul dbe typo.
