Hey guys,

So I'm a sophomore (technically a junior in credits) majoring in chemistry at UMiami, and I just finished my second semester of organic chemistry in the Fall 2008.  Next semester I'll be studying abroad in Monterrey Institute of Technology (I'll be taking a structural organic chem class there) and the summer thereafter (summer 2009) I'd love to participate in an REU program in chemistry.

However, I've had no experience in research, and I know this is a major component of what REU programs look for.  Judging by your past experiences, would I be able to pull through and obtain research experience in the summer?  I have a 3.82 overall GPA (4.0 Chemistry) and will have 2 great letters of rec from my chem professors.
