Urgent - Iodite
« on: January 20, 2009, 07:37:09 PM »
How would you go about drawing the structure of Iodite (IO\2^-)?

Does I take the floating electron or does one of the O's take it?

I just cant get it to work out!

Thanks!

The more electronegativity takes the electron.

Ok so one of the O's take it and bonds to the only electron not in a lone pair on I.

then what happens with the other O?  does it double bond to I? and if so where?
