a little help on "Nylon"

I had my lab last week on the preperation of nylon.

In my lab question i had a question that im unsure of and would appreciate some help.

"Why is dichloromethane used for dissolving the sebacoyl chloride? If other solvents can be used what property or properties should they possess?"

 a lil help on this question thanks ^^

erm, i know they have it in wikipedia but the explanation there is a little to complicated for me to understand thus i would like to seek simpler explanations here instead.

any help would be appreciated

I believe during the nylon reaction, water is a byproduct.  Sebacoyl chloride will react with water to give HCl.  Acids are not good for nylons.  Possibly the dichloromethane limits the amount of water reacting with sebacoyl chloride by separation of phases.  I don't really know the answer, but this is one thought of mine.
