Caloric Content
« on: April 24, 2009, 09:44:18 AM »
Hello,

In my highschool chemistry class we've been assigned the task of measuring the caloric content of certain food.
Recently, we have been studying the total amount of energy in thermodynamic systems, and I feel as though this plays a role. Do you have any reccomendations on how to conduct this experiment?

Sincerely,
carp

For a start, does your textbook describe the equipment used to determine calories?  Note that once you find it, you will still have much work to do, to relate it to the units used for food, Calories, but it is a start.  Note too, the equipment will also be outside of your league, but it will be a start.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.
