Chemical Complexes
« on: April 27, 2009, 07:13:20 PM »
Hi all.
I was wondering if there is such thing as a Cu complex that forms.

For example, when testing for Phosphorus you can use the Stannous Chloride method, which involves using Ammonium Molybdate. When in contact with the P ion a blue complex forms.

I was thinking about doing a future project on a colormetric method for determining Cu and possibly Pb in water.. That would of course depend on complexes that form with Cu and Pb.

Thanks.
Chris

Yes, although copper in solution is already colored, it does form a highly colored complex with a common reagent.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.
