Need help with a couple questions
« on: July 05, 2009, 11:59:41 PM »
A cylinder contains a mixture of hydrogen and chlorine molecules. Compare wihout doing any calculations:

a) the temperature of each gas
b)the average kinetic energy of the moluecules
c)average speed of the molecules

Can anyone try and give me an idea of what their asking for? Can I find this info through the periodic table, as it says to use no calculations.

Since both the gases are in equilibrium with each other in the cylinder.
so gases have same temperature
same average speed

Nope, same KEavg due to thermal equilibrium but different average speed as it is dependent on the mass of the molecules.
No matters what results are waiting for us, it's nothing but the DESTINY!!!!!!!!!!!!
