methanol: bond distance

Methanol has a C--O bond distance of 142 picometers.
My knowledge of bond distances is rusty. How am I suppose to figure out that it's 142 picometers?
Is that an experimentally determined value? Is there some generic way of figuring that out?

Yes, it should be.
