Tin oxide synthesis
« on: August 17, 2009, 12:54:39 AM »
Hi Guys,

I am encountering a problem with my undergradute thesis if you can help me with it please.

I am using tin ethoxide Sn(OC2H5) as a metallic precursor in a solution of water at a pH = 11 to generate tin dioxide.

I am irradiating the solution by ultrasound to generate tiny particles and im using NaOH for pH adjustments as well as a

surfactant as im expecting mesoporous products.

the problem is that im obtainning a black product rather than the normally white SnO2 ?? is there anyone who has done something similar to me? Cassiterite (SnO2) can be black so is that what  im generating somehow??

Any extra comments??

Thnx
