Q. What makes pyrex oven-proof?
A. Its composition. Consiting of materials like Si02 which has very good thermal properties, gives the glass a high thermal resistance.
Is this good enough, could someone elaborate?

borosilicate glass. It doesn't expand much so it is less likely to crack.
