A question in my book asks for the speed of a solid's molecules, the speed of a liquid's molecules and the speed of a gas' molecules.
Now, what doesn't make sense to me is that this is a completely general question, because I know that the speed practically depends on the temperature.
Is there a general speed for the molecules? I know about the "type of movement" like vibration and such, and would like to make clear that that is not what I am referring to.
Thank you very much,
