reacting two metals (one a solid, another auqeous solution)
« on: October 10, 2009, 11:40:42 PM »
Hello.

Can these two reactions EVER be possible?

Ni(s) + 2 Na+(aq) :rarrow:    (some product)

3 Ca(s) + 2 Al+3  :rarrow: 3 Ca2+(aq) + 2 Al(s)

I have always heard that two metals can't react, but these problems are confusing me. Some reassurance would be nice  ???.

This is about reactivity series.

Remember that metallic calcium easily reacts with water.
