Pharmacokinetics
« on: October 11, 2009, 06:42:37 PM »
Im trying to do some questions however im having some problems. First problem is related to the mean residence time. Ive been given two equations one for 2 different drugs. however i cant find an equation to determine the mean residence time (if there is an equation) or do i use some other method.

Another question i have is for total body clearance, i have the equation : total body clearance = clearance in liver + clearance in kidney. I assume to do this i need to use the equation Cl = QE. However to find the clearance in each organ, i dont know as im not really given these numbers.

Other data i have than the equations is that each patient received 4g of the dosage and ive found the fraction of dosage of each drug after 3 hrs (that was part i of the question) and the AUC (which was part ii)

Any help would be much appreciated.

Ive got another question nw. The questions asks: Explain the main form of metabolism experienced in vivo by the members of one major type of drug class.

Just two things i wanna bout this questions. What they mean by in vivo and major drug class. For the drug class im not sure if he means by selecting one of these classes, acids, bases neutral or aromatic, non aromatic, heteroaromatic.

Actually dont worry about my first post, ive got the answers that i need now. As for the second question im just having problems getting an answer for it. I realised i could google the phrase in vivo and so i know what that means. Still stuck on selecting a drug class as in not too sure what he means by it and yeah stuck on answering my question
