Balancing Chemical Reactions
« on: October 12, 2009, 05:15:04 PM »
I do not know if I am balancing these equations right...

I2+MnO2  :rarrow: MnO4- + I- + H+

This is what I got:

3I2 + 2MnO2 + 4H2:rarrow: 2MnO4- + 6I- + 8H+

Check for two things:

1. Do you have the same amounts of each atom on each side of the equation?

2. Is the net charge the same on both sides of the equation?

If you check and make sure that you can say yes to both of these things, then it is a pretty sure thing that you did the problem correctly. So, looking at your balanced equation, what do you think?  ;)
