Hi,
I need to do a lot of calculations for the titration of silver ions & iron II ions, with potassium thiocyanate.
I do not want the answers, i just need to know what the equations are to work out the answers!
The questions are:
1. Calculate the moles of thiocyanate ions required in titration.
2. Calculate moles of silver ions in 10cm3 of equilibrium mixture.
3. Determine moles of silver ions that have reacted.
4. Determine moles of iron II ions that have reacted, and so the number remaining in the equilibrium mixture.
5. Calculate moles of iron III in equilibrium mixture.
6. Calculate equilibrium concentrations of the 3 ions in the equilibrium mixture.
7. Calculate the equilibrium constant.
For question 1 i have done the number of moles of thiocyanate used multiplied by the amount of thiocyanate needed for equilibrium.
0.02 x 9.2 = 0.184 moles of thiocyanate needed in titration? Is this right?
I'm not sure about the rest.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
