What is the strongest ionic bond? and covalent bond?
« on: November 04, 2009, 07:50:28 AM »
Well, two questions
What is the strongest ionic bond?
and what is the strongest covalent bond?

I have tried searching the internet but I can't found any data.

At least when it comes to ionic bonds, think about periodic trends of elements.

What elements are the most, and least electronegative?

Pretty sure that will help answer your question...

Cs is the lease electronegative.
but the ionic compound of Cs is not having the strongest ionic bond.

What is the strongest ionic bond?
If you mean 'lattice energy' then the one of Al2O3 is one of the greatest:

Ionic bonding is stronger because of the principaly electrostatic interaction.
