Topic: lewis dot structures  (Read 14553 times)

lewis dot structures

Please can someone explain how to draw them, i am so confused, the more i read about it, the more i get confused.
i am having problems understanding how to draw lewis dot structures for
species such as Ca3Po4,
so do i?


                         pO-  Ca-Ca-Ca -Po
                                   l        l
                                  Po      Po

does it have to be in order??? and where do the dots go?
and how many, okay so i go to the periodic table and look up
what group they are under so H would be one so it gets one dot,
but do i put how many dots they need around each one???
please can someone explain this , i will be extremely appreciative.

This topic went off the hook.  QUICKLY lol...

Looks good Winga.  Even got the stereochemistry in there.  Studygirl probably realizes that that's NOT a lewis dot structure - so I won't need to point that out  ;D

P.S. I AGREE that there is not much good info on Leiws Dot Structure Tutorial stuff anywhere...I honestly was confused, until midway through first-year university  :-[
