dissolving proteins

I understand that spider webs are proteins.   What are some ways of dissolving proteins, even if this involves breaking down the proteins into shorter polypeptides or to amino acids?

acid/alkali hydrolysis should be able to break down the peptide linkage.

If spider web is structured in a manner such that the peptide linkages are hidden within and inert groups are projected outwards, then spider web will be resistant to acid/alkali hydrolysis.

Your body uses enzymes such as pepsin, and trypsin.  I don't suppose you could just physically tear down these webs?
