Synthesis reaction between acid oxide and h20
« on: December 09, 2009, 05:58:27 PM »
Hello,
From what Ive been taught, when an acid oxide and water mix the product is an acid and its aqueous (mixed in water)
ex. CO2 + H20 -->H2CO3 (aq)
But on the product side of the skeletal equation, there is no H20 so with what water did H2CO3 mix? Was there some water remaining that wasnt written on the product side?

Yes, you dissolve CO2 in excess water.
