I just started studying chemistry, and when I get into a new subject, I like to read a lot about it, like textbooks, nonfiction history stuff (Shulgin, Hoffman, Pauling, etc.), and even fiction reading.
So I'm looking for a book for chemistry like what William Gibson did for biotechnology in Neuromancer. I want a book that brings chemistry to life in an exciting, applicable, and probably fanciful way. I guess science fiction books would be most appropriate, but if you know of any books centered around chemistry that could really occur in real life, I'd be interested in those as well.
