I2O5 molecolar geometry and ibridation

I have a problem with iodine pentoxide  (I2O5): I know how the molecolar is , but i don't understand how the Iodine have a ibridation sp3 with a elettronical configuration 4d10 5s2 5p5 . Can someone help me? :) i hope it :)

Count the number of sigma bonds and number of lone pairs on each iodine atom, and see how all of them can be arranged with respect to each other.

In my opinion you are quite right. Geometry of iodine pentoxide is far from tetrahedral arrangement of orbitals but often (incorrectly) chemists use sp3 as synonym of tetrahedral

here's a trick for it.
we know , I2O5 is an anhydride of iodic acid (HIO3). thus , hybridisation of I will be same in iodic acid as that of the anhydride i.e. sp3.
