The rate constant k for the reaction shown below is 2.6 * 10–8 L/mol * s when the reaction proceeds at 300.0 K. The activation energy is 98000 J/mol. (The universal gas constant (R) is 8.314 J/mol * K)
2NOCl -> 2NO + Cl2
Determine the magnitude of the frequency factor for the reaction.
a) 1.2 *10^-8
b) 4.6 *10^-9
c) 3.2 *10^-9
d) 2.7 *10^-8
e) 9.1 *10^-9
I'm pretty sure that you use the equation k=Ae^(-Ea/RT)
Solving for A i got A= k/ (e^(-Ea/RT) = 2.6 * 10–8 /(e^(-98000/(8.314*300)) = 3.01235 * 10^9
however, this doesnt match with any of the above choices. Am i doing this the wrong way?
