Don't get the difference of PPM and PPMV

Hi,
I have read the article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keeling_Curve
and I don't get why they change the unit, for instance: "...with steady values of about 310 ppm in the afternoon..."
and then suddenly "...to 385 ppmv as of June 2008...".
Can someone explain it to me?
