I have learned that Professor Emeritus Robert T. Morrison is seriously ill as he nears 92.  Because his organic text made all the difference in my life of teaching*, I wrote him to that effect, and encouraged some of my superior students of past decades to do so also.  (His daughter, then at his home in New Jersey, reported that these emails markedly encouraged him.)

I'm sure that similar notes from other organikers on this list and the larger number of those who were introduced to organic chem by Morrison and Boyd would be an important aid to his spirits at this time.  His daughter, Dr. Susan Morrison (morrison@txstate.edu) coordinates all his communications (although the unusual personal plus academic pressures now, she states, prevent her from emailing responses of thanks).

*My special thanks always to physicist Richard Hake who first told me and the rest of this list about the funniest -- and most important lecture ever delivered about the lecture system, by Professor Morrison (now available online at http://entropysite.oxy.edu/morrison.html ).

Not being an organiker I admit I have the book on my bookshelf - just in case.
