Oxides of group I and II

why elements of first group mainly form superoxides (except lithium) but elements of second group form oxides?

I am not so sure what I have done wrong, so I know that in reaction of first group elements (except lithium) there is not enough energy with "burning" to break O-O bonds, I would just like to get some help.
