1H Chemical shift of Rh bound COD
« on: April 25, 2010, 04:52:50 PM »
Free 1,5 cyclooctadiene has  peaks at 5.58ppm and one at 2.36ppm.
Rh coordinated 1,5 cyclooctadiene has peaks at 4.222ppm, 2.173ppm and 1.550ppm.

Why the upfield shift? Isn't it regular for there to be a downfield shift as a complex is metal bound because it is donating electron density? Also why are there now three different types of hydrogens?
