Hi, my question is this; are ALL gases to a base of 2?
Like carbon monoxide? Although carbon monoxide specifies that it is one (mon-oxide) does it still have a base of 2 in terms of a gas? i'm a bit confused about that because i know what are the elements that exist as diatomic molecules but i'm a bit unsure about this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Also noble gases exist as a monotonic species, aka, Argon, Xenon etc.
