Ksp - Solubility Product
« on: May 01, 2010, 01:59:11 AM »
The solubility product (Ksp) of AgI at 25 oC is 8.5 x 10-17 mol2 L-2. Determine whether a precipitate will form if 1 x 10-3 g of KI(s) is added to 125 mL of a solution of AgNO3
whose concentration is 1 x 10-8 M. Mr(KI) = 166

What's the definition of Ksp? What chemical equilibrium does it relate to?
The way of the superior man may be compared to what takes place in traveling, when to go to a distance we must first traverse the space that is near, and in ascending a height, when we must begin from the lower ground. (Confucius)

Find Ionic product.
I.P.=[Ag+][I-]
If I.P.>Ksp,
A precipitate would be formed.
