Liebig method for silver coating of glass
« on: April 25, 2010, 03:44:49 PM »
Hello--I am coating florence flasks with silver using the Liebig method but they come out looking blackish, like the silver is already oxidized. I'd like a bright mirror effect...any suggestions? Thanks.

Could you list your exact procedure?

The inside of the flask or whatever you are coating will be blackish, but the side touching the glass should be bright silver.

You are adding silver hydroxide to ammonia and then adding glucose, correct?
