Complete combustion of a hydrocarbon Give CO2 and H2O as the only products. CxHy a hydrocarbon is burned, resulting CO2 and H2O in the ratio by weight of 1.955 for 1. What is the formula of the hydrocarbon.

Can you write a balanced equation for your reaction, in terms of x and y?

If you end up with p grams of carbon dioxide, how much water do you have? How many moles of each?
